Graduation time is almost here!

Thank you Mom for giving me my first diamond! My ring looks like new now! Every time I will look at my Aggie Ring I will think of you.

My new diamond!

After 2 years it has gotten a little dirty.

Pinterest Inspired Bridal Shower

One of my dear friends is getting married this weekend and I threw her a bridal shower last month. All my decoration ideas came from pinterest! I am so happy the way it turned out. Not to mention she was so suprised that I had done this for her. I had to tell her it was just not another girls weekend it was her weekend! I cannot wait for the wedding this weekend!!! :)

I got the idea to make pom poms to hang from the celing. Doing it myself was much cheaper than buy the premade ones. Here is the site that I used: pom poms
I made all the girls Red Neck Wine glasses for the weekend. I used candle stick holders and mason jars. I put our intials with paint pens ( they do not wash off). Check this site to see how I made them!

These are the stands I made with a candle stick and plate. I spray painted the base silver then placed a wooden let A on top and spray painted over it. I used heavy duty super glue to glue the stands together.

Here is a far a way shot...I just love the pom poms and streamers!

It's a must to have fresh flowers! It adds so much to the table decorations. You can also see in the background that I had some light up branches. I got those from Big Lots at a very reasonable price. I placed them in a silver spray painted bottle and added some tissue paper flowers and ribbon.

I LOVE this! I found coral fabric, which is one of the brides colors, and draped it over shoe boxes that were different levels. I used card board letters from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them with glitter spray paint (love this stuff)!!!

Refinishing project #3

I have started refinishing another dresser that I found at a garage sale for $25. I am still working on the green dresser but it takes time for the stain to dry. So I started working on this dresser! This is the progress of this one right now. I am staining the top and painting the rest of the dresser.

The dresser before my creativeness got to it!

Finished sanding down the top.

Primed the drawers and body.

The dark color if spray painted an oil bronze.
The gold is the color the handles were before.

Stained it Bombay Mahogany.

Steel wool in vinegar creates a black stain.

Added the wool stain to the drawers and this is what happened
after it dried over night. Kinda of gives it a rustic look.

Added a chevorn stripe to all of the drawers.
Just mixed a drop of turquoise with the base
 paint I used.

I still need to go back and sand the edges again
and rub the wool stain over it again.

The Green Dresser

Since I refinished my end table I wanted to take on something bigger! I found this lovely green, solid wood, dresser at a garage sale for $25. I had to get it! As I was stripping I found that it had three layers...the stain, white paint, and green paint. I got off what I could and the rest I will do with sanding. I plan to stain this dresser Bombay Mahogany. It is still a work in progress.

1st refinishing project!

I decided to attempt refinishing this old side table from the 70's (thanks mom). I had been seeing a lot of it on Pinterest and decided I would take a try at it! It was a lovely white wash stain....not my style. I wanted to go with a dark stain since that would match well with the other furniture in my house. I sanded that table for hours. I applied a dark walnut stain and distressed the edges (big fan of distressed looked furniture). I didn't like what the table looked like being all one color. I painted the body white, distressed it, then rubbed it down with dark tea. After all of this I sealed it with a semi-gloss.

Granger had to get in the picture :)
After 1 coat of Dark Walnut

2 coats of Dark Walnut stain
and distressed the edges.
Before I applied the semi-gloss.

Love it!
